Uncorr. Inverted RPM

 

The Repunched Mintmark (RPM)

          The title is self-explanatory, but see here for more details.  The mintmark can be repunched due to a number of factors.  Listability depends upon strength of doubling and separation between the images  The direction is based on the direction of the secondary mintmark in relation to the primary or strongest mintmark.  Occasionally the repunching is the result of tilting or rotating of the punch between blows of the mallet.  Below are examples of the various directions.
